Westmoreland County Hosting Informational Meetings for Drilling Impact Fee
Seeking public input for consideration on the usage of funds generated by Act 13 of 2012.
June 6, 2012 - The Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners - Charles W. Anderson, R. Tyler Courtney, and Ted Kopas today announce a series of community meetings planned to receive comments and/or recommendations from the public on the use of funds that will be generated under the provisions of Act 13 of 2012, the Unconventional Gas Well Impact Fee.
Act 13 is a comprehensive law that touches upon a number of natural gas well drilling issues, one of which is the assessment of an Unconventional Gas Well Impact Fee. The Impact Fee is collected and disbursed to state, county and local entities to offset the impact that Unconventional Well Drilling has on our communities.
"Because of the amount of public interest received, we’ve decided to set-up a series of meetings to seek input regarding the use of funds generated under Act 13," said Commissioner Charles Anderson.
Five meetings have been scheduled throughout the county. Residents who prefer to submit their comments in writing may do so by filling out a survey listed on the Drilling Impact Fee section of the County Planning Department’s website (www.co.westmoreland.pa.us/drilling).
For additional information, including meeting locations, dates and times, registration forms for providing public comment, and a list of the allowable uses of funds under Act 13, please view the full Public Notice located at www.co.westmoreland.pa.us.
